When we begin to bring our natural creativity into our business, the idea of being inspired always comes up, but what is inspiration? Many people have an idea that it is this mysterious thing that you must wait for and that only a select few can have. This is not the case at all. We can and should be responsible for our own inspiration. It comes from us and we can control it.

Mind your mind. In other words be aware of what you think about. Just as with your body, don’t pollute your brain with rubbish and junk thoughts or thoughts that don’t serve you.

Read, watch, and listen your way to greater inspiration. Start today. Who knows what you’re going to be inspired to do? Will you start the next great business? Will you make a key change in your life that brings you a new-found happiness? Will you finally get out there and start jogging, and revitalize your health? Will you gain a new insight that leads you to abundance and prosperity?

So I spent the week waiting for name inspiration. This got me thinking about inspiration in general and wondering how many sit around and wait for New content every week to hit. You see, that’s something I can’t do. While I was waiting for the name to make itself known, I continued to work on the other images I’m preparing for the gallery. I continued to work on the description that was to accompany each photo. I continued to work on a variety of things that sit patiently in my creative magic box.

So, whenever you are being motivated, double check. Is this motivation resonating with me, am I driven to take action, or is it just an outer shell? If it’s a true motivation from within yourself, retain the motivation, if it’s somebody else’s, discard it. Simple and effective. Note that this is just a safety measure. I usually consider interior motivation to be true and exterior motivation to not feel so true. If you are the kind of person that can hear about others’ achievements and still act with perfect confidence and discipline as if it were yourself, by all means do it. It’s just most people don’t consider exterior motivation that truthful after some time, and this is the way to prevent that.

Another motivational tool is to make yourself a chart, just like your mom used to make you when you were little. Make a system like give yourself a check mark on the days you achieve your goal and a circle on days you don’t. Even this little personal accountability chart will increase your motivation.

Everyone who’s ever done those things wasn’t sure she could before she did it. But then she read a book, or saw a movie or play, or heard a song that reminded her of the Life she was meant for… and great things started to happen.
