Sometimes you hear something online that is so out there- so ridiculous- so stupid actually that you wonder if the person who said it was joking. But if you’re like me, I begin asking all the right questions to lead me to where I need to be in my business when this kind of thing arises.

Start conversations. This is sort of tied in with #2. Don’t just blast statements out at your followers. Your ultimate goal in a social media campaign is to get people talking about you and your business. Just like in the offline world, an online discussion is a two (or more) way street. Don’t just shout at people. Ask questions, get your readers and followers to respond to your ideas and thoughts. Get your coworkers involved and have them help you in starting these online conversations.

As you write your read my post, think about what you offer to the reader, not what the reader can give you. So instead of saying that you’re looking for a job, tell the reader what kind of problems you solve.

Tip social media profiles Don’t ask for favors. And don’t flaunt the favors you do. Simply follow, comment on, link to, or otherwise become “known” to select publishers in your niche. They will notice… and generally begin to reciprocate. Given a little time the relationship will form naturally and be incredibly beneficial on both sides.

Enter your website name to gather a list of words from your site (The scuttlebutt on the twitter stream says that this can help you get indexed faster by Google so do not miss this step – just in case). This will gather a list of keywords found on your website. Again export if to a file and save.
